GOOD LUCK WORLD'S COMPETITORS
We would like to wish our fellow Ontario DockDoggers good luck this weekend as they make their way to the DockDogs World Championships that are being held in Salem, Oregon. Sheena Stark and her dog Bosco will be competing in Extreme Vertical as well as Iron Dog. Shari Shukraft and her dog Meadown will be competing in Extreme Vertical as well. Bring it home to Canada girls! Carrot Fest - SUCCESS Ontario DockDoggers were true die hards this weekend. Saturday dawned bright and beautiful and all day long we were one of the feature attractions at the Bradford Carrot Festival. We had huge crowds on Saturday and were excited to be a part of this fun event. Sunday did not dawn so bright and beautiful, but despite the weather we kept on jumping! Teams were narrowed down for our finals which ended up being a nail biter with the lead changing hands over and over again. Huge congrats to all the teams that made it out this weekend and took home some loot from our finals. Big thanks to all of our event sponsors, Sashas Blend, Pet Value and Royal Canin. Please note, as of October 2010 all board positions will be up for election. After many long years as a board member our president Erin Braybrook has decided it's time to hang up her leash and simply enjoy Ontario DockDogs events as a competitor. Deb and Sheena will also be finishing up their terms this October and will not be returning to the board. As a result we are looking for some new blood! Are you interested in getting more involved? Would you like a challenge and the reward of watching everyone enjoy themselves at a fun filled event? Then we'd like to hear from you! In order to run for a board position you must be a member in good standing of our club and have an insane passion for DockDogs. All interested parties can send their requests to info@ontariodockdogs.com Volunteering We are on a big volunteer push for 2010. We've got some really great members in this club, some who are just itching to get started helping out and some who are wondering HOW they might be able to pitch in! We've devised a plan to get everyone involved this season. If you are an Ontario DockDogs member AND are planning on attending an event we ask that you devote at least one and hopefully two hours of your weekend to volunteering at the event. There are many little tasks involved in putting an event together and many hands make light work. We've usually got plenty of help for set up and tear down, it's the in between when everyone's relaxing in their tents that the bulk of all those little jobs need to be done. Whether it's fishing toys out of the pool during a wave, wrangling, folding swag, handing out ribbons, judging, announcing etc. Ontario DockDogs needs YOU! We'll be putting out a call for volunteers shortly before each event, so take some time, figure out where your strengths are and let us know how YOU would like to help out. We are totally a volunteer run club and we appreciate everyone who is willing to put forth an effort to make this club the best it can be! Don't worry, if you forget to reply prior to the event we will make sure we find something for you to do! We will circulate the official list to all members a week prior to the events so everyone is kept in the loop and knows what their job will be. 2010 Membership! Please note that the 2010 club fees have changed. We will be working on an early bird schedule for a couple of months however, so if you are on top of your game you will be able to receive a discounted rate! Fees are as follows: 2010 = $35 (Family $70) Included in your membership is the following: * Entry to our Fun Swims * Dry land training seminars * Discounted wave fees for ALL Ontario DockDogs events * Year end banquet You can pay online through our Online Boutique via paypal or send your membership through the mail via cheque or money order. If paying online, renewals do not need to fill out a membership form (unless you have changes to your existing membership. For new members applying online, please fill out a form, scan and email to info@ontariodockdogs.com, or, if you do not have access to a scanner simply send the appropriate information to info@ontariodockdogs.com and we will fill out the form for you. Please note that you must purchase a family membership if you have more than one person in the family wishing to cash in on the benefits. You are entitled to unlimited dogs! Welcome Ontario DockDogs is the first DockDogs club not only in Ontario but in all of Canada. We are a long standing club with the U.S. based DockDogs organization and with a large number of members already, the club is growing with leaps and bounds, with members from across Ontario and the United States.
