If you're looking for some DockDogs fun this weekend (July 3-5) look no further than Union Springs, NY.

The second annual Fire on the Dock Fest will be taking place at the home of Charlie and Dolores Bochenek, and their Chesapeake Bay Retreievers, Chessie and Cruiser.

This event is a Zone 7 World Qualifier and will play host to teams from clubs across the country, South Carolina has already landed as well as Buckeye DockDogs with Ontario DockDoggers on route.

Pre-registration for this event is already closed but there will be some spots available onsite.  For more information on this event please check the DockDogs Event Calendar.

Event a Success

The International Food Festival Event was a HUGE success for Ontario DockDogs.  With teams coming from as far away as Ft. Wayne Indianna and our club members supporting us in force we really showed London what DockDogs is all about.

HUGE thanks to all of our volunteers and competitors, you really made the event shine, with your incredible dogs and smiling faces, the crowd was treated to a great show.

To everyone who purchased a raffle ticket I am pleased to announce that one of our very own club members, Pam, won the gift basket and over $175 was raised for the Farley Foundation.

We will be sorting through the paperwork in the next day or two and are sending the electronic copies back to DockDogs headquarters this evening for the "official" results to be posted.

Next up......SCUGOG!

Hot Weather Tips for you Pet

When packing for the event this weekend please be sure to pack a water bowl and water for your dog(s), don't forget to pack your own beverages as well.

Crate fans can be purchased at some pet stores as well (these are relatively inexpensive and simply hang on the wires of your crate keeping a cool breeze on your dog(s) in these high temperatures.

NEVER leave your dog in the car during these extreme heat spells!  If you need a hand unloading simply ask a fellow dockdogger, they will be pleased to help you with your dog and kennels so you can get your pet into the shade.

Don't overdo exercise, if your pet is not overly fit it's best not to overdo it your first time at an event.  Use common sense, if your dog is lethargic or uninterested you should probably take it easy.  Let him cool off and give him a cool drink, always have water available for your pet, it will encourage him/her to stay hydrated during the day.

Common sense goes a long way, if you are hot and tired then most likely so is your dog so take a seat and watch the action while both of you get the chance to rest.  It's going to be an entire weekend of DockDogs with plenty of dock time to go around.

See you on the dock!

Ontario DockDogs hit the sea!

Team Fetzer (Todd, Sue & Jazz) took the Ontario DockDogs banner for a sail this past weekend.  They took part in their sailing club's "Sail Past" and proudly hung the banner alongside a bathing suit clad Jazz!

We love having our members promote our club whenever possible and have extra banners on hand should any members wish to use them for promotion at upcoming events.

If you'd like to borrow the club banner for a weekend and tell people how much fun DockDogs is then drop us a line!  We'll get the banner to you and maybe even feature your event and photos on the home page!
